River Watch Farm is located in the northern mountains of North Carolina, in Ashe County. We're on the South Fork of the New River, about 15 miles from the Virginia border. You'll find us easily off Rt. 221 North toward Sparta or Rt. 16/88 outside of Jefferson. We're only 2 hours from Greensboro and Charlotte and 3 1/2 hours from Raleigh.
What can you do when you vacation at River Watch Farm?
Regular local activities include the annual Christmas in July festival, numerous musical events in West Jefferson and surrounding towns throughout the summer, frequent art gallery hops, Christmas tree cutting (mid-November through mid-December), and the Saturday morning Farmer's Market (spring, summer, and fall).
Take a scenic drive of around 30-45 minutes to find Historic Todd, outstanding hiking at Grayson Highlands Park (Virginia) or trails off the Blue Ridge Parkway, local wineries, The Virginia Creeper Trail, and the Boone/Blowing Rock area, including Tweetsie Railroad, Appalachian State University, and Appalachian Ski Resort.
In 60-90 minutes you'll be at Sugar or Beech Mountain, Linville Caverns, Grandfather Mountain, the Barter Theater, and several Yadkin Valley wineries.
